Mindy Wendell, Hospital Manager
Mindy joined Town & Country Veterinary Clinic in 2007 and grew up right here in the New River Valley. She left her hometown in pursuit of different career options, including managing a customer service department within a fortune 500 company and owning her own business in a competitive metropolitan market.
She is thrilled to be back in the NRV with her extensive friends and family. Mindy strives to utilize her previous business experience and knowledge at Town & Country Veterinary Clinic to manage the hospital in a professional manner and to ensure you and your pets needs are met. Gayle Hall, Inventory Manager
Since 1993, Gayle Hall has been a loyal employee to Town & Country Veterinary Clinic, excelling in client service. From the early days of assisting clients to becoming part of our outstanding administrative team, she truly does it all!
From an early age, Gayle has always had a love for animals including raising AKC Yorkshire Terriers for 20 years. She has lived in the New River Valley for 27 years, after moving here from Tennessee with her husband and son. She graduated from NRC with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science & Medical Terminology in 1991. We are so lucky to have her as part of our team!
Shannon Payne, Case Auditor
Shannon Payne began working at Town and Country Veterinary Clinic in October of 2014 as a client service representative. Less than a year later, she transitioned into a full time Doctor’s Assistant. By January of 2016, Shannon became our Case Auditor, working closely with our veterinarians and clients to ensure proper billing procedures. Licensed Veterinary Technicians
Highly trained professionals known as Licensed Veterinary Technicians are a vital asset and integral member of our veterinary health care team. Technicians are educated and knowledgeable in the field concerning emergency and critical care, anesthesiology, internal medicine, dentistry, radiography, in-hospital patient treatment, IV catheter placement, and laboratory procedures. They too work alongside our veterinarians, handling any diagnostic procedures, surgical preparation, and specialized nursing care.
Acting as a direct support to our veterinarians and LVT’s, assistants are responsible for helping hold patients for diagnostic imaging, laboratory specimen collection, gathering critical information including medical history, patient weight, and vital assessment during emergency situations, and maintaining hospital treatment area.

Staffed 24/7, we have a representative available to help you with the check-in, check-out process. Client Patient Coordinators
Skilled with obtaining vital medical history for our doctors, you can trust that our Client Patient & Intake Coordinators have your pet’s best interest at heart. They work directly alongside our veterinarians while your pet is in our care, providing any vital information to you. They are also key in discharging many of our hospitalized and surgical patients.
Have a question while your pet is hospitalized at Town & Country Veterinary Clinic? Need a prescription refill for your pet’s medications? We are staffed 7 days a week with doctors’ assistants who would be happy to answer any vital information regarding your pet’s case while in-hospital and phone in those special medications. With several kennel attendants, our staff is here to provide your pet with a calming, non-stressful boarding stay. Routine care, leash walks four (4) times daily, extra playtime, and keeping your pet’s environment clean are just a few of things our staff offers!
Our on-site professional groomers are available 5 days a week to provide convenient, full-service dog and cat grooming for medical and cosmetic needs. Having your pet professionally groomed accomplishes more than just making your pet’s coat look nice and shiny — it improves the overall health of your pet! With a variety of customized hair cuts available, our groomers truly do provide your pet with the ultimate spa experience!
