Unique within the veterinary community in the New River Valley, Town and Country Veterinary Clinic is now a full service companion animal practice that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, and 365 days a year.

Routine Scheduled Hours:

Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The clinic will now be staffed 24 hours to answer you calls and give your pet around the clock treatment and supervision! Your pet will never be alone while boarding!!! A doctor is on call 24 hours per day should your boarding pet need any medical care during his or her stay.

Routine Boarding and Concerns:

Dogs will be routinely walked three times a day. Blankets and toys are routinely given to all dogs boarding!!! (unless they eat them!!!)

Now that the clinic is staffed 24 hours a day, you pet will not be left alone during his or her stay at the clinic!! Most pets handle the boarding situation better than their owners!!! It is recommended that if you plan on boarding your pet in the future that you board them frequently for short periods of time, a day or two, so that they get used to our clinic staff and the fact that you are coming back to take them home!! We try very hard to make your pet happy and healthy while boarding at our clinic. We furnish them with blankets and toys, as long as they don't eat them?? We ask that you not leave any special toys or blankets as they may get lost while your pet is boarding. We keep low playing music playing throughout the day so that help maintain a peaceful environment!! Cats are not boarded in the main kennel area where the majority of dogs are kept!!

A complimentary bath will be given to any dog or cat that is boarding over 7 days. This service is not available for aggressive or fractious animals. The kennels are all air-conditioned, heated, and well ventilated to keep your pet healthy. If you do not want this service please let our staff know. Even during a short visit it is a good idea to have your pet bathed prior to going home. Ask about our full grooming and boarding services that are available.

Extra Services Now Include:

  1. Playtime: 15 minutes of brushing, walking, and playing!!! $8.00/per day.
  2. Night time frozen treat for dogs and catnip for cats! $2.50/per day.
  3. Pick up or drop off after during after hours. (There will be an after hour fee of $30 to pick up or drop a pet anytime after scheduled hours!!! Holiday fees may vary for this service!)

Please advise a staff member if any extra services are requested!!!

Health Concerns:

The kennels are all air-conditioned, heated, and well ventilated to keep your pet healthy. All pets are required to be current on all vaccinations while boarding. The kennel facilities are cleaned several times daily with safe disinfectants to help keep the kennel sanitized.

However, there are some inherent health risks connected to boarding any pet. Just like children going to school, your pet will be exposed to other animals and could get sick.

Kennel Cough is the most common respiratory infection that dogs may contract while boarding. Cats can contract respiratory tract infections as well. Similar to the human cold, Kennel Cough can cause coughing and running eyes and nose. Most dogs and cats require no treatment, but some may require antibiotics or cough suppressants. Please call the clinic should your pet exhibit any signs after boarding.

Stress related stomach/bowel problems, such as vomiting and diarrhea, are very common in a boarding pet. Whether it is due to stress or diet change, or a combination of both, some pets may exhibits these signs during or after being boarded. While most dogs and cats do not require any specific treatment and symptoms should resolve quickly on their own, please contact the clinic if you are concerned about your pet.
